Skull Valley Lavender Farm
Skull Valley Lavender Farm is a small farm nestled in the middle of the Prescott National Forest near the town of Skull Valley. Beautiful oaks and the majestic Granite and Tonto Mountains shape the backdrop of fields of lavender. The farm grows several varieties of lavender for essential oils, freshly cut blossoms and dried bouquets. You can buy the farm's products at the Prescott Farmers' Market or by contacting the farm.
Skull Valley's soil, sunshine and breezes create a perfect environment for the Mediterranean herb lavender and so it began....
First a modest 200 plants were put in the ground to try several varieties and how they would survive in the harsh extremes the desert hands us - then another 500 and now slowly this number will be expanded to however many all our the sunny spots on the farm can hold. The high-desert environment brings with it certain challenges but the high altitude and the ever present sunshine sets the stage for a superior quality plant and essential oils. The bees collect the lavender nectar and create a delicious honey and the blossoms treat us to a spectacular purple show throughout the growing season.
The farm is only open for the public on certain times a year for workshops and 'Cut Your Own Lavender' days, but Anita & Bob Scheelings, the farm's owners can be found at the Farmers' Market in Prescott and Flagstaff on Saturdays and Sundays from May through October with Lavender Essential Oil, Plants, Blooms, Soaps, Wool, Eggs, and Honey.
